A lullaby is a cradle song: a mellow tune sung to lull a child to sleep. Like Walkin', Lullaby uses three notes on the second string: E, F and G. Be mindful of the triple meter feel (strong-weak-weak). As you play the melody, alternate between the middle and index (m-i) fingers and keep a steady beat. If you prefer, you may use the thumb to pluck the strings instead of m-i.

Lullaby score

Once the melody of the Lullaby is under your fingers, work on playing the chords.

chord diagram icon Chords

Lullaby requires a strum pattern that brings out the triple meter feel. Use Simple Strum 3/4, i.e., one thumb strum per measure on beat one.

Once chord transitions are fluid, try three strums per measure: a firm downbeat strum followed by two lighter strums, i.e., a strong-weak-weak strum pattern.
