Brazilian Lullaby is a trio, a piece with three separate guitar parts: guitar 1 (melody), guitar 2 (countermelody) and guitar 3 (bass). The three parts are close in terms of technical difficulty.
Guitars 1 and 2 are locked in a conversation throughout Lullaby: guitar 1 states a motive and is immediately echoed by guitar 2, but in modified form. Guitar 3 keeps the two chattering guitars in line by laying down a slow walking bass. The main challenge is holding your own against the independent melodic and rhythmic character of the other parts.
Lullaby Tempo
Brazilian Lullaby is, well, a lullaby and, thus, should entice sleep. To prevent drowsiness during practice sessions, drink a cup 'o joe!
Play Lullaby with a gently swinging beat—like rocking a baby. The downbeat should be clear but not stomped on. Keep tempo on the upper side of andante.
The PDF scores for the individual parts are linked at the bottom of this page.
