Basílica de San Pietro in Vincoli | Roma, Italia |
Once inside the Basílica de San Pietro in Vincoli (Church of Saint Peter in Chains), this is the view that befalls you. San Pietro was built during the fifth century to house the chains of Saint Peter from his captivity in Jerusalem. The church is also renowned because it houses Michelangelo’s statue of Moses, Pope Julius II's mausoleum, but is brimming with other works of art. The interior is the size of a football field so there's no shortage of space. This was one of the few churches that allowed photography, albeit without flash. So bring a fast lens and crank ISO. And make sure to disable the auto flash feature. Some people don't understand how to disable autoflash and, thus, many churches and museums forbid photography (light fades paint). I helped many tourists disable their popup flash. Hint: get out of full auto mode! Canon EOS 40D and EF-s 17-55 2.8 IS USM |
