Black-Crowned Night Heron "Aukuʻu" | Ala Moana Beach Park | Honolulu HI

A young ʻaukuʻu," or black-crowned night heron, hanging out near the lagoon. The ʻaukuʻu is a native of the Hawaiian Islands, known for its fishing technique of placing rice, bread, etc., on the shoreline and waiting for a fish. Adult ʻaukuʻu wear tuxedo like plumage.
