This Hotel Street building has been deserted for many years and has an actual tree growing on the roof! With renovation the second floor could be a great artist's loft or recording studio. The rough brick textures and window shutters remind me of buildings in Brugges (but no flower pots or canals!). This is one of the few remaining Chinatown buildings with window shutters still intact. The well scrubbed rustic brickwork set against pure blue sky intrigued me, so here it is. Not sure what all four Chinese characters mean, but the last two translate as "play place." I often hear mahjong from upstairs so gambling might be the play they refer to. These windows look much bicer with the Old World shutters intact. ocean_pleasure_0492sign EOS 5D MK II and EF 70-200 4L IS USM |
