Kakaako Waterfront Park is built on an old landfill, and is midway between Honolulu Harbor and Ala Moana Beach Park. The prominent "hills" are mammoth piles of trash with a thin crust of topsoil and grass. Candy cane shaped pipes vent gas from decomposing garbage within. Kakaako Waterfront Park used to be one of my fav bicycle destinations until some joker stole my bike.
