Ala Moana Fishermen | Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

Men assemble in shallow water during twilight, form circles or crescents and battle our watery friends with wee fishing poles. And they catch guppy sized goatfish and put them in buckets. Boil them for soup? Bait? Every Summer and Fall I see men, both young and old, perform this ritual. I suspect it's the process they enjoy more that the catch. Standing in warm calm waters surrounded by white sand, ocean and the gentle glow of a sunset ain't torture.
