Moku Ahi | Honolulu HI

The Moku Ahi is a bright yellow fireboat stationed on Honolulu Harbor. VOG was dense tonight and acting as God's neutral density filter: reducing the sun's intensity, diffusing light and a soft-box for the foreground. Normally the Moku Ahi would be a dark silhouette. I've taken this shot many times and this is the first time I could render detail in both shadows and highlights. Nimitz Highway, 7 or 8 feet behind me, was entangled in Friday rush hour traffic.
