LE RÊVE Stage | Las Vegas, Nevada |
I took this image after the performance. Most of the audience was gone and the stage was pulsing from organge to blue. The empty stage was a beautiful sight, but nothing compared to the performance. LE RÊVE, staged at Wynn Las Vegas, offers up an amazing performance in a high tech aqua theater-in-the-round. Aerial acrobatics, gymnastics, choreography, water ballet, diving and artistic athleticism are intermingled with an onslaught of dazzling eye candy and eclectic music. I haven't a clue how they coordinated the constantly changing water depth, lights, music, rain, smoke, aerial acrobatics and high drives, but it worked like clockwork. And they used every inch of the performance area, from the raffers to the edges of the auditorium. Plenty of head turning required if you want to catch it all. Live music (hidden in booths near the ceiling), elaborate lighting and special effects worked hand in hand with the stage performers and helped build a world of fantasy and intrigue. Music was rock concert volume and fatiguing after an hour, but I almost didn't notice due to the spectacle below. Ticket prices are expensive ($100-250) but worth it. The cheap tickets--first two rows--are in the "splash zone," so bring a rain coat if you decide to chance it. The best overall view is from the middle rows. Unfortunately, no photography is allowed during the performance (hence my empty stage image). And, yes, they come after you if they see a camera, flash or LCD flicker.
