Umpqua Lighthouse Sate Park | Oregon Coast

Umpqua Lighthouse State Park is a real looker and the old Umpqua Lighthouse (1894) is among the few artificial subjects in the area to photograph. It looks similar to the Heceta Head Lighthouse a few miles north. The sun was directly behind the top of the lighthouse, making for dramatic backlighting. I was surprised to find my images from this area suffered from RFI artifacts due to the high powered Coast Guard transmitters.

This park is huge and Lake Marie, Umpqua River, endless sand dunes and Winchester Bay are nearby and ready to explore. I intended to shoot the dunes but the heavy off-road traffic marred both scenery and audio landscape.
