Window 'o Light | Pearl District | Portland OR

We jumped off a streetcar in Portland's Pearl District and found a brick wall with windows but no building. Perhaps it was left to lend a historical vibe to the neighborhood? Or maybe it's a window to Forevermore?

If I ignore the dark and dreary winters, Portland strikes me as one of the greatest North American cities. Why? More breweries than one can shake a stick at, love of coffee abounds (they even put it in beer), organic food galore, rustic late 19th century architecture, killer public transit and a healthy love and support of the arts. Plus, said urban delights are only a hop 'n skip from extreme natural beauty such as the Columbia Gorge, Pacific Coast Highway and Mount Hood. Oh, and no sales tax!
