Vatican City is surrounded by a tall brick wall to deter not too determined intruders. Most gates have been closed and bricked over to enhance security, leaving their ancient stairs and walkways orphaned but apparently a peaceful place to drink beer! And, heaven forbid, should a fool scale yonder wall, they'd have to deal with these rather determined looking guys in colorful uniforms, the Swiss Guard:
