Most of the state of Hawaii's 1.3 million souls live on Oahu. Each resident seems to own a car and commute cross-island, resulting in perpetual traffic hell. Driving in Honolulu is like driving in LA, but slower and sans honking. And yet there are still peaceful rural areas on Oahu, seemingly frozen in time. Of course, the neighbor islands--Hawaii, Maui, Kauai, Molokai--are even more peaceful and serene, retaining some favor of yesteryear's Hawaii. For photographers, our island chain offers an abundance of natural beauty, quaint towns and friendly people to explore and photograph.
