Tourist with graffiti • Amsterdam, Netherlands

Canon EOS 40D and EF-s 17-55 2.8 IS USM

As I tread a dark alley in Amsterdam's Red Light District I grabbed this shot of a young tourist against graffiti. On both sides of this section of wall were dozens of "window girls" showing their wares and men trolling for a love fix.

More "Love Alley" graffiti:

The liberal attitudes of the Netherlands make it fertile ground for all sorts of legal vices including sex trades, gambling and marijuana derivatives, earning it the title of adult playground of Europe. Of course along with vices came free speech and easy immigration policies, resulting in cultural clashes between liberal natives and traditional immigrants and with old country ways. With all this said, Amsterdam is a surprisingly clean, safe and orderly city, certainly trumping Paris and Rome in such matters.

"Coffeeshop" signage in the Red Light District. No coffee actually served inside.

And the mural below, illustrating their brand of "coffee."

Finally, we saw lots of really stoned people in the Red Light District:
