Takamine G Series | Takamine | Hirade | Takamine LTD2012C

G Series Classical Guitars

The G Series is Takamine's value line of guitars and features Tak's designs, quality and lifetime warranty at budget conscious prices. They're a great way to get into guitar and will take you further musically than cheap Costco one size fits all "box" guitars.

How does Takamine Japan do it? The G Series are made offshore in Asian factories to their exacting specifications. You get much of the fit 'n feel of a Tak at a fraction of the price. If I had to pick the "deal" of the bunch, the G128S and GC5-NAT gets the most tone for the buck award with solid spruce top, traditional rosewood back and sides and simple charm. If you crave a pickup, the solid top GC5E-NAT is the no nonsense deal.

The new for 2014 line of GC1-NAT, GC3-NAT and GC5-NAT (& cutaway variants) ship with premium D'Addario® EXP45 Normal Tension strings installed.

NOTICE: we no longer sell guitars but are leaving this page up for reference.

Takamine EG128SC

The EG128SC is our pick for best bang for bang acoustic-electric classical. It's a great choice for the intermediate player or budget conscious gigging classical guitarist. This slender necked honey sports a solid spruce top, ply rosewood back and sides, rosewood fingerboard, mahogany neck, gold plated heads, adjustable thrust rod, inlaid rosette, TP4T preamp with 3-band EQ, tuner, cutaway and a lifetime warranty. 51mm nut and 65cm string length.

The G128S and EG128SC were discontinued in 2014 and replaced by the GC5-NAT and GC5CE-NAT. The specs and appearance are the same save for the silk screening of a "T" on the head stock of the replacement models. In a side by side comparison, we preferred the older 128 series a little more in terms of playability and tone. However, the new models were sourced to different Chinese factories and may be working out minor kinks in quality control.

Takamine GC5-NAT | Spruce & Rosewood

New for 2014, the GC5-NAT is the replacement for the popular G128S. Other than the model name change and a logo (T) painted on the head stock, it's essentially the same as the G128S. By far the biggest step-up in sound quality comes when you move from a ply soundboard to solid spruce or cedar. Why? A solid wood soundboard is more responsive than plywood and "breaks in" or improves with regular use. The GC5-NAT ups the ante with a solid spruce top, rosewood back & sides, rosewood fingerboard, mahogany neck, adjustable truss rod, gold plated heads, inlaid rosette and a lifetime warranty. A wonderful guitar for a serious beginner or intermediate player. 51mm nut and 65cm string length.

This hottie sports a solid spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, rosewood fingerboard, mahogany neck, adjustable truss rod, gold plated heads, inlaid rosette, gloss finish, TP-4T preamp, cutaway and lifetime warranty. The TP-4T preamp features 3-band EQ , tuner, gain, and low battery indicator. 51mm nut and 65cm string length. Please throw the dog a bone by purchasing at Amazon.com
